Would You Like a Kitten?

Caitlin has been begging, BEGGING for a kitten ever since the unfortunate incident involving Oliver and a bobcat, may he rest in peace. Every day she asks to go to the Humane Society and JUST LOOK. Right. Do I look that stupid? This has gone on for more than a year.

Today, she worked really hard building a "Cat House." It was a complex structure of cardboard boxes, all the tape that we had in the house, my good towel and a decorative pillow.

She also wrote a long speech in which she campaigned on the promise of taking care of her much-wished-for kitten all by herself. I think maybe she even mentioned getting a job to buy cat food. Not really. But she was pretty serious.

I had to go pick up Hayley from Youth tonight and on the way home look what we found dumped on the side of the road by our house:

Divine Providence?

Caitlin thinks so.

I have assured her, and Wes, that we are most certainly NOT keeping them. I might be persuaded to keep ONE. Maybe.

Three of them have eye infections. Fortunately, I have some antibiotic eye ointment left from the Great Rabbit Debacle. They are so tiny I'm not even sure they are weaned. I suppose I'll wind up bottle feeding them just like I had to do with Oliver.

Is there a sign on the front of my house that says I am a sucker?

Speaking of suckers...

Hey, Mom! You know how I've been telling you that you need to get another cat? I'll make you a really sweet deal on one.

These little guys are really cute and friendly. Very playful. They already have names, which doesn't bode well for my plan of getting rid of them. There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

They are: Lexie, Chloe, Abby and Sidney.

Any takers?

I am absolutely not showing this post to my daughter. She would take in ANY stray that came along. Sorry. i've decided I am not a cat person since I finally gave my cat away about 6 years ago. Why? Funny story (well, funny now)...it involves Amber's suitcase and Kirk playing chase with the cat. You should ask her about it sometime. I'm surprised the cat survived that day.

Oh my sweet whiskers!!!! I would totally take one off your hands if it weren't for the fact that I'm not going home after I see you and I don't want to haul a kitten all over the ENTIRE United States of America for three weeks.

You're four cats away from becoming Crazy Cat Lady who watches Fox News. ;)

Ha! Bless your heart! I'd take one, but we had at one time about 30 roam through our yard, and poop and pee, and spray whatever nasty spray they shoot out of their rear end. Our "lovely" neighbor fed strays. And they breed. And they breed some more. And then we have 30. So because of that...I hate cats. Plus, we're allergic. :-( I'm sure you could take them to the corner of walmart and give them away easily.

Hate to break it to you, but there's a 90% chance those orange ones are boys. They typically are. Just look at their booties. Upside down exclaimation mark = boy, colon = girl. That's how I can tell. They look about weaned. Poor things. Stupid owners! Unless the mama cat got lost/killed. Then poor orphan kitties!

Um...no. Besides I don't think you'd let us have one if we wanted one. Because you know what happens to four legged critters that come to live with us....

It ain't pretty.

I hear that Wes had the same way of presenting his case to his mom as Catlin. Maybe she will be a supersaleslady someday.

They're so cute! I wish we could take one...maybe you could raise it and we could take it in a couple of years. You wouldn't mind keeping it for me, would you?!
